PROF. ANDREW SCOTT MD PHD
ANDREW SCOTT is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon working in the Glaucoma Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. His ophthalmology residency training was mainly at Moorfields Eye Hospital followed by a further three years of fellowship training in glaucoma at the same hospital. He had also undertaken a year of clinical glaucoma research at Moorfields under the supervision of Mr Keith Barton. He was also awarded a grant from Fight for Sight which allowed him to complete a three year period of laboratory research at the Institute of Ophthalmology in London. He was conferred a Phd in Experimental Ophthalmology by University College London in 2014. He is also a recent graduate of the three year International Glaucoma Panel programme under the mentorship of Prof. Garway Heath.
He is passionate about teaching and lectures ophthalmologists, optometrists and nurses regularly at Moorfields, University College London and City University. He has also been the chair of the European Society of Young Ophthalmologists (SOE YO) where his vision was to improve standardisation and quality of ophthalmic training within Europe where much diversity in training still exists. In 2018, he received an Achievement Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmologists. He is currently an active member of the European Glaucoma Society Committee. In his tertiary practice at Moorfields, he manages a highly diverse population of glaucoma patients and has an interest in complex and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
